Here we go in 3, 2, 1...

Intro

Recently, there have been loads of people who've asked me to take a look at their blogs and give them feedback about how I think their sites will impact web readers. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine why anyone would want my opinion on this because I am neither professional blogger nor professional audience. I did comply with them, however, and reading their work, I grew to reminisce about how much fun I used to have when I ran my own blog(s). So, inspired by my best friends Maria and Adj, I decided to revive my own blogging life so that I could a) have an outlet for all the thoughts that are plugged up in my head, and b) practice and improve my writing skills. The question now is: What the fuck do I write first?

From what I've learned from professional bloggers, the key to having a successful site is to find your audience. Determine the readers you would like to cater to, and take things from there. Problem is, I don't have a clue who'd be interested in reading what I spew from my keyboard, if such a person even exists. Another hot tip for me was to write what you know. Well, not to brag or anything, but I happen to know a lot of things about a lot of things. How do I choose what to focus on?

Okay. I probably thought about that for a good three minutes before deciding that I would just write whatever the hell I wanted because hey, it's not like I have readers anyway, right? So in conclusion, the first thing you'll ever read on this blog is just me thinking about advice professional bloggers give out to potential bloggers, and then basically throwing that out the window and doing things my way. Yup. It's exactly like when Alice sings "I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it." Or in this case, I'm given very good advice,  but I sure as hell won't follow it.

Ground Rules

1. Post diligently. I'm known as somebody who likes to start things, but never really gets around to finishing them, so I'd like this blog to be a test for me. If I don't post at least two entries per week, I will henceforth officially declare myself a failure in life. After all, nobody forced me to start up a blog. I did it of my own free will, so I should be able to allot sufficient time for it.

2. Don't overthink. The last blog I had was a complete disaster because I was much too picky about what I would actually publish on it. I was so concerned about how other people might respond to my writings that I eventually vetoed every single idea I came up with. This time, I'll go easier on myself by writing down my good ideas whenever I can and publishing them online. I'll pay no mind to the little voice in my head screaming, "That's rubbish!" because another, bigger voice in there will eventually get fed up and just shut him up for me.

3. Proofread. I don't care if you think you're hot shit, Trish, but mark my words, I will kick your ass if you post something without proofing it first! Honestly. Typographical, grammatical and spelling errors are simply not acceptable on blog entries because a) autocorrect/autoreplace/autofill have been available for over a decade now, and b) you're already online; why not check if you're using that word correctly, eh? I'll probably let punctuation errors slide because their proper uses, quite frankly, are still highly subjective.

Outro

Reading through this first post, I can't help thinking it lacks coherence, and that I should probably just scrap it. But that would be in violation of rule number 2: don't overthink. Having said that, this turned out to be a pretty good start to a blog, even if I do say so myself. I'm writing a draft for the next post on my computer right now, and I'll probably be posting it later tonight or tomorrow afternoon, depending on whether or not I can go online. And on that note, I shall take my leave. Fare thee well, my dear readers(who?). Until next entry.

    1. Yes, please! And it wasn't an ambush at all. I just found it funny that a lot of people asked me at the same time, all of a sudden. Let's face it, the blog is back! :)
